HOUSE IS A BLANK CANVAS - AND REFLECTS THE IDENTITY OF ITS USER

As the urban centers are getting dense, individual villas and residences are being rapidly replaced by High-rise apartments. The biggest limitation of such housing projects is that they are repeated templates and replicas of each other; and only offer 3-4 variations in their layouts.

It is possible to overcome this limitation of repetition - only if the process is replaced with a fresh perspective towards design. If these repeating layouts are studied thoroughly and re-visited; Each house can be made Unique and Beautiful in its own way!

Private Space - Such spaces works in a complementary fashion with the public areas and provide an intimate and comfortable environment.

LAYOUT PLAN - GUIDING FRAMEWORK OF DESIGN

This is the Existing Layout Plan for a 3BHK units at Cleo County that demarcates a typical furniture layout as provided by the developer.

But a thorough second glance at the same layout can open up possibilities of envisioning and creating many experiential and luxurious spaces within the same layout plan.

LAYOUT PLAN - A FRESH PERSPECTIVE

Be it a complete city or an individual house, the overall success of design emerges from the Layout Plan. In the similar way - for creating a unique experience, it also starts from the Layout Plan!

So, the existing layout plan has been reworked to capture and open up possibilities of Experiential Living.

Following is the Revised Layout Plan that encapsulates small interventions that maximize space utilization while allowing a unique and luxurious aesthetic.

PUBLIC AREAS - THE FORMAL CHARACTER OF THE USER

The public areas of the house are the spaces where the family entertains their guests and hosts occasions. Being an area where the family members spend most of the time during the day, the public areas also double up and function as the central Formal Areas of the house.

The design of public areas thus become very crucial and play a large role in reflecting your formal characteristic of the individual.

The public spaces of the house have been highlighted in this plan that encapsulate the Dining, Living and the extended Terrace.

Public Areas - These spaces are the first point of contact for all visitors- so it is important that they are cozy for the family members, yet formal enough to hosts guests and occasions. These space forms the first impression that your house leaves on any person. The design and planning of such spaces thus becomes crucial - as they reflect and portray the Formal Self of an individual.

In the design proposal, the terrace is visualized as an extension to the Living space. Not only does this serves as a spill-out landscaped area- it also maximizes the natural daylight and highlights the various design elements of the living room.

SPACE FOLLOWS - THE FORMAL ORDER

As public areas designate the Formal Space of the house, it is important that all the design elements and spatial order also follow a formal geometric order. Be it the basic layout of the space or the highlight patterns - These spaces are designed with symmetric elements and rigid geometries to express the formality of space. Also, the material rich in their texture are used to adorn the formal spaces- so that they signify a sense of Luxury and Grandeur.

PRIVATE AREAS - THE PERSONAL CHARACTER OF THE USER

In complete contrast to Living spaces, private spaces of the house are only accessible to the family members and are the reflection of their personal self. The character of such spaces is completely governed by the user.

As each member of the family has a distinct taste and a unique character, the personal spaces thus reflects the same attitude. The design of private areas thus become very unique and play a large role in reflecting the personal self.

The private spaces of the house have been highlighted in this plan that encapsulate the Bedrooms, Activity areas and Private Terraces.

Private Areas - Being the most intimate and personal areas of the house, it is crucial for the private spaces to create an environment of intimacy and comfort. Since the private spaces are only accessible to the family members and are rather unique to each individual - these spaces reflect and portray the Personal self of an individual.

In the design proposal, an intimate lounge and a private study area is created in addition to the central bed space. The master bedroom space thus allows a variation of activities that can take place within the room. Darker tones in conjunction with textured surfaces increases warmth and generates comfortable and intimate spatial character.

SPACE FOLLOWS - THE INFORMAL ORDER

As private rooms designate the Personal/ Individual Space of the house, it is crucial that all the design elements and spatial order also follow an informal order. Be it the basic layout of the space or the highlight patterns - These spaces are designed with asymmetric elements and have a fluid geometric order to express the individualistic and personal character of space. Elements, materials and patterns that maximize warmth are used to create personal spaces- so that they signify a sense of Comfort and Intimacy.
